African Students Organization
About
The African Students' Organization or ASO, is committed to promoting African culture to the UCF campus and surrounding community through dance, music, poetry and more. We also provide a voice for African students while supporting them in their educational endeavors. At meetings, we actively focus on having group discussions about issues facing Africans, both here in the diaspora and back in Africa.
We also hold many spectacular events throughout the year that are meant to educate our community about the various wonders of Africa. Many times, we will partner with other UCF organizations to jointly show the uniqueness of our respective cultures while unifying with others.
ASO always welcomes anyone who has an interest in learning more about Africa, and seeks to be an integral social, academic, and cultural part of the college experience of everyone at UCF.
ASO Goals:
(1) To unite African students studying at UCF
(2) Create a medium for African students to socialize and interact
(3) To enrich the UCF and local communities through unique African events, programs, and other community-based activities.
(4) To provide networking opportunities for and with African students inside and outside the African community.
(5) To correctly inform UCF and the rest of the world about issues affecting Africa and combat any misinformation about African peoples and countries.
(6) To provide a forum for the discussion and debate of matters of special interest to African liberation development.
