About
What is Fashion Society?
We are an all inclusive club that is determined to create a safe space for any and all student creatives interested in the fashion industry. Our focus is on creating a judgement free zone and in making a positive difference within the industry, giving students of all majors the opportunity to dive into a successful career in fashion. We specialize in 9 main committees being Beauty, Design, Modeling, Photography, Production, Social Media, Styling, Web Design, and Zine. All of these committee work together throughout the year in order to produce a professional fashion show in the spring semester!
About the Committees
Each committee focuses on a different area within the industry where members are given a creative space to work on their craft, together they demonstrate that the fashion industry is often a team of creatives.
Design Committee: responsible for half of the outfits for our spring fashion show. This committee focuses on starting from a design sketch that comes to life through methods such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc.
Styling Committee: responsible for half of the outfits for our spring fashion show. This committee focuses on sourcing clothing pieces to create members' unique sketches.
Photography Committee: responsible for capturing the creative concepts for the chosen theme of the show. This committee includes all photographers and videographers who are looking to increase their portfolio and skillset with opportunities for promo shoots, workshops, and shooting our final show. (you will also be working with the Zine committee in the Fall semester to create our mini magazine)
Modeling Committee: responsible for walking in our spring fashion show. You will be coached on creating your perfect walk and building your confidence on the runway. There will also be modeling opportunities in the form of photo shoots.
Beauty Committee: responsible for all makeup and hair looks needed for our spring fashion show and any promotional shoot done for the club.
Production Committee: responsible for all production works to ensure smooth operation of all fashion society events, most importantly our spring show. This includes creating the playlist for the show, coordinating all guests and models for the show, and maintaining our Eventbrite page for all merch/ticket sales.
Social Media Committee: responsible for maintaining our Instagram and TikTok accounts. This committee will be in charge of taking behind the scene pictures at all events, managing our Google Drive for all photos, and creating all posts/captions on strict timeline.
Website Design Committee: responsible for coding and creating our website where all our events, photos, and updates will be posted. This committee also will be updating the website as the year progresses, and you will act as a liaison between the website developers and the other committees for content.
Zine Committee: responsible for creating our mini magazine, from organizing photo shoots (with the help of Photography committee) to collecting student works to designing spreads. **NOTE: this committee is ONLY working in the fall semester. This will give you the opportunity to also work on the show in the spring semester.
Committees often participate interactively via sewing or DIY workshops, club-wide photoshoots, socials, and more!
