Since our commencement, we have flourished in aiding underrepresented students into professional schools through career specific meetings, shadowing opportunities, local medical school trips, community philanthropy, and annual attendance to the American Medical Educational Conference hosted by the S.N.M.A.
Who We Are:
Multicultural Association of Pre-medical/health Students, or MAPS, represents the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students of Student National Medical Association (SNMA). (www.snma.org) MAPS chapters are spread throughout the country at over 150 undergraduate institutions. They are well integrated into SNMA's infrastructure, participating in regional and national events. We, along with other chapters in Florida help constitute Region Four. Our organization's advisor is also an academic coordinator with the College of Health Sciences at UCF: Catherine Manz.
Our Objective and Purpose:
To provide underrepresented pre-med/health students with knowledge, skills, and experience that are both prerequisite and concomittant to professional participation in health care fields.
To improve multicultural students matriculation into all professional health related programs, with an emphasis on medicine.
Our group is open to all pre-med, dental, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, athletic training, podiatry, optometry, psychology, nursing, and other allied health professions.
