What is UCF NSSLHA?
The National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Chapter at The University of Central Florida strives to connect members with opportunities to enhance what is learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world observations and participation. Through partnerships with other campus organizations, fundraisers, socials, volunteer opportunities, and guest speakers we provide a plethora of outlets for our members to network with students, and professionals in the Orlando area.
What do we do?
In the past, we have partnered with the Special Olympics of Florida, Autism Speaks, CECO, UCF CARD & UCF PALS, Ronald McDonald House, and groups such as the American Sign Language Club and UCF Best Buddies. Socials for members have included, Lake Claire picnics, ropes courses at the Recreation and Wellness Center, and bowling just to name a few. Guest speakers have included UCF professors, organization representatives, audiologists and SLP's, and individuals experiencing a communication disorder. NSSLHA maintains a close relationship with the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders the UCF Communication Disorders Clinic located in Research Park providing us with many volunteer opportunities and unique experiences that are given exclusively to members.
In the upcoming year, we plan to expand the opportunities through more socials, a wider variety of guest speakers, and participation in more campus events.
